to generate Injury Risk HUD
P = Pain. Pain score automatically assigns 0.
The 14-Point Injury Threshold
Athletes scoring **14 or less** on the Functional Movement Screen are statistically at a 3.5x higher risk for non-contact musculoskeletal injuries. This threshold is the primary benchmark for return-to-sport clearance.
FMS Scoring Logic (0-3 Scale)
- 3 Points: Pattern performed perfectly with no compensations.
- 2 Points: Pattern performed with compensation or modified form.
- 1 Point: Unable to perform the pattern or loses balance.
- 0 Points (P): Pain is reported at any point during the movement.
Clinical FAQs
Why does my score go to 0 if I click 'P'?
The FMS protocol dictates that if pain is present, the quality of the movement cannot be accurately screened. Pain is a medical indicator that overrides fitness metrics and requires a clinical diagnosis.
